After careful consideration of the health and welfare of their guests, employees, and entertainers, Sand Dollar Lounge co-owners Anthony Jamison, Benito Martinez, and Nathan Grates have made the difficult decision to temporarily close to support the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Effective immediately, Sand Dollar Lounge will be closed for one week. The owners will assess the situation then and make a determination about continuing the closure.

“Although our business has been relatively unaffected by the outbreak so far, we have decided this is the most responsible action to take,” said co-owner Jamison.

The Lounge owners have pledged to do everything in their power to make sure their employees are secure during the closure and look forward to reopening and serving their loyal patrons when authorities have determined it is safe.

About The Sand Dollar Lounge

Located at the gateway to Las Vegas’ booming Chinatown district, The Sand Dollar Lounge is a local Vegas landmark enjoying the rush of a second life. Originally opened as a blues bar in 1976, The Sand Dollar quickly became a draw for iconic musicians including Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and even Mick Jagger over its first 30 years. Hit by hard times, The Sand Dollar closed its doors in 2007, but its spirit would not let it rest and within two years was purchased and reignited by a team of hospitality veterans, Anthony Jamison, Benito Martinez, and Nathan Grates.

Honoring the tradition and history of the iconic Las Vegas venue, the lounge has reclaimed its beloved spot as a premier live music venue with free entertainment nightly, adding rotating craft beer selections, an extensive whiskey collection, seasonal craft cocktails by some of the city’s best bartenders, and an amazing pizza kitchen. They also offer pool tables, shuffleboard, and table-top gaming in a smoke-free environment. For updated information, please visit Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
