If you haven’t heard Steve Wynn talk about the changes in Las Vegas, especially in the nightlife industry, check out the interview the Las Vegas Sun’s Robin Leach did with him. See the video below.

The video is from December 2008, as Encore Las Vegas was opening. I found the video interesting, because Steve Wynn talks about how the Las Vegas nightlife scene was prior to the year 2000. It was pretty much no existent. I mean, people would get excited about dancing at Cleopatra’s Barge inside Caesars Palace (which on Fridays and Saturdays is transformed into The Gossy Room).

I remember shooting in nightclubs for the Las Vegas Weekly’s Vegas Scene page back when the most popular places to party were OUTSIDE of the casino’s, The Beach and ICE Meta Club. Casinos didn’t want “that type of crowd” in their establishments. But, as casino executives started to see how much money people were spending inside of nightclubs, their attitude quickly changed.

With ICE and Godskitchen Wednesdays at Body English bringing EDM music to Las Vegas, you slowly started to even see the nightlife industry change gears. If you need to question why, just follow the money.
