Spilled Milk is 18b’s only shop dedicated solely to new home décor brings personal touches, unique style, and little things for your home that aren’t boring.
Downtown Las Vegas (February 27, 2024) — Spilled Milk, 18b’s only shop dedicated solely to new home décor celebrated its grand opening this past weekend. Located at 1407 S Commerce Street and now open 6 days a week, the shop curates personal touches and little things that aren’t boring for the modern home.
Founded by local interior designer, maker, cat lover, and cybersecurity guru Kori Cortez, the store was imagined out of necessity when Cortez’ corporate cybersecurity job ended abruptly with sweeping layoffs and department eliminations at the end of 2023.
“I’ve always loved design, décor, and breathing new life into spaces,” said Cortez. “It’s something I did on the side because it also breathed new life into me. I’m good at security [cyber] but the shock of being stripped of my livelihood made me realize that it was time to take control of my own destiny and make this my full-time commitment. It’s a huge risk but as I’ve learned, so is having an employer.”
The scene is authentic and posh designed to match your mood. A collision of dark and light, the shop features upbeat selections packed with dopamine for the chill days with a hard transition to dark for the edgy ones.
Home staples such as accent chairs and contemporary cabinets pepper the space while stylish pops like jaguar plant holders, modish crystalized barware, handpicked Parisian serving trays, uncommon wall art, sculpted pieces from London-based designer Abigail Ahern, and exclusive pieces from local potter Stuck on Pottery as well as niche statues and scented wax choices adorn the shelves.
“Las Vegas is unlike any other city in the world. I wanted to source unique pieces that bring style points to the modern home in an atypical way.”

About The Arts District
Since 2015, DTLV Arts has been a leader in the growth and development of the Las Vegas Arts District. With a focus on making the right moves for the neighborhood and its inhabitants, their projects go beyond simply building and leasing.
Years of careful planning have gone into elevating the neighborhood’s identity, improving walkability, and welcoming unique and prosperous businesses to the area—all while fostering the Arts District’s authentic culture.
Like a microcosm of Las Vegas itself, their sizable portfolio of commercial properties—and the brands, businesses, and events they contain—have become world-famous. They have made vast improvements to The Arts Factory, including a colorful city pride mural that was featured in the New York Times.
Under their creative direction, the DTLV Arts footprint (encompassing The Arts Factory, Art Square, 1st & Main, the Union House, and the historic Mission Linen building) has grown into a vibrant community of artists and makers.
On top of their successful developments north of Charleston, they have expanded our vision to include properties south of Charleston—with our successful development project at 1301 S. Commerce and the soon-to-be improved 1700 S. Las Vegas Boulevard property. They also helped bring the Arts District’s first boutique hotel to the neighborhood north of Charleston.
Developing the Arts District is what they do. What’s most important is they we do it. Their passion is to design and engineer experiences while elevating the value and notoriety of the area, but their mission is to make life better for the people who live, work, and play there.
