Pentatonix Photos Inside of The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan

Last night (Saturday, Feb. 28), The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas welcomed Grammy Award-winning quintet Pentatonix to the stage inside The Chelsea.

The a cappella group energized an enthusiastic sold-out crowd with a number of fan-favorites including “Telephone,” “La La Latch,” “The Evolution of Music” medley and “Daft Punk,” showcasing the band’s versatility and incredible musical prowess. The quintet thrilled the audience with a performance of “Four Five Seconds” while parading through crowd, surprising their awestruck fans with high fives and hugs. This past February, Pentatonix won its first Grammy award for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Capella for its “Daft Punk” medley.

Upcoming performances at The Chelsea include Craig Ferguson’s Hot & Grumpy Tour: Walking the Earth (March 13); Jason Mraz and Raining Jane (March 14); Hozier (April 9); and Amy Schumer Live (April 24).

Pentatonix (often abbreviated as PTX) is an American a cappella group of five vocalists originating from Arlington, Texas. Their work, which is mostly in the pop music style, consists of covers of existing songs, sometimes in the form of medleys, along with some original material. Their music is defined by their own arrangement style, a strong presence of low bass vocals, and a diverse range of vocal percussion.

Pentatonix formed in 2011 and came to prominence the same year by winning the third season of The Sing-Off on NBC, their victory earning them $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony Music. After being dropped from their label (Epic Records) after The Sing-Off, they formed their popular YouTube channel and distributed their music through Madison Gate Records, a small independent label owned by Sony Pictures that distributes movie soundtracks. Having now eclipsed 7.55 million subscribers and more than 842 million cumulative views, the PTXofficial YouTube page is currently the 12th most subscribed-to music channel and the 42nd most subscribed channel overall, while two members, Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi, also have their own comedic YouTube web show, Superfruit, with over 1 million suscribers and over 86 million views.
