In 2006, Juicy J, the founding member and front man of Southern hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song (“Hard Out Here For a Pimp” from Hustle & Flow). While most artists would look forward, Juicy J, born Jordan Michael Houston, decided to return to square one. He spent the next years creating a street team, shooting videos and releasing mix-tapes all in the name of the collective Three 6 buzz. However, in addition to furthering the group, the rapper found a solo career that transformed him from one part of a colossal whole to a standalone superstar.
