Alternative band The Strokes rocked the mophie stage at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Wednesday, August 20th.

The Strokes rhythm guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. performed solo to open the show before the band took the stage. The group launched into an energetic set, performing hits such as “Reptilia,” “Someday,” “12:51” and “Under Control.” Since forming in 1998, The Strokes have sold more than five million albums and performed live all over the globe.

The Strokes

The Strokes are an American alternative rock band formed in New York City in 1999. The group consists of vocalist Julian Casablancas, lead guitarist Nick Valensi, rhythm guitarist Albert Hammond Jr., bassist Nikolai Fraiture and drummer Fabrizio Moretti. In January 2001, The Strokes released the demo EP The Modern Age on independent record label Rough Trade. The band later signed with RCA Records and released their debut LP Is This It the following August. Helped by singles “Hard to Explain” and “Last Night” the album debuted at No. 2 in the U.K. and No. 33 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album sold more than two million copies worldwide and was certified platinum in the U.K.

The Chelsea

Inspired by some of the world’s most iconic venues, The Chelsea is a 40,000 square-foot transformable space featuring remnant brick tiling, an eclectic collection of stage production props, a vintage lobby bar, private VIP opera boxes and a memorable grand staircase complete with a dramatic chandelier. The venue’s mophie stage attracts some of today’s hottest acts.
