Today, July 8, 2014, marks the 100th day since the opening of the Las Vegas High Roller, the world’s tallest observation wheel at 550 feet.

The Las Vegas High Roller became an iconic part of the Las Vegas skyline when it began operation on March 31, 2014 and since has introduced visitors and locals alike to a new era of excitement and entertainment on the Las Vegas Strip. In celebration of the momentous occasion, The Las Vegas High Roller is offering free rides to the first 100 riders today, July 8th starting at 11:30am.

During its first 100 days in operation, the High Roller has set records, reached milestones and attracted riders from all walks of life.

Key highlights since its opening include:

  • The High Roller has made roughly 3,870 full rotations.
  • The oldest visitor to ride the High Roller was 99 years old.
  • The youngest visitor to ride the High Roller was two weeks old.
  • As of July 8, 2014, 15 proposals and seven weddings have taken place inside the High Roller’s cabins.
  • The High Roller was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the World’s Tallest Observation Wheel on April 17, 2014.
  • The High Roller’s LED lights have been programmed in honor of six different holidays and special events.
  • The High Roller engineering team has made the climb to the center hub of the wheel, a 275-foot climb, a total of 65 times in the first 100 days to perform routine checks.

Immense in scale at 550 feet, the Las Vegas High Roller features custom-made elements from around the world including China, Japan, France, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, Colorado, California and Las Vegas. Boasting 7.3 million pounds of steel and 112 cables totaling 25,256 feet, the High Roller features 28 spherical cabins, each weighing 44,000 pounds and accommodating up to 40 guests. A maximum of 1,120 guests can ride the High Roller at one time and each revolution takes roughly 30 minutes. Along the way, riders enjoy uninterrupted, 360 degree views of the Las Vegas valley, providing an unmatched vantage point.

The Las Vegas High Roller anchors The LINQ Promenade, another equally innovative offering from Caesars Entertainment, as the first open-air and pedestrian-friendly shopping, entertainment and retail district on The Strip. Featuring 22 unique venues—including high-end sneaker boutique 12A.M. Run, Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas, Goorin Bros. hat shop, the largest outpost of lifestyle boutique Kitson and the first ever Polaroid Museum and Fotobar. The LINQ Promenade has redefined the Las Vegas entertainment experience. Between both of these projects, Caesars Entertainment created approximately 3,000 construction-related jobs, and 1,500 full-time positions.
