Binion’s Gambling Hall Announces Expansion Projects

Binion’s Gambling Hall is proud to announce the addition of two major new attractions  ̶  Whiskey Licker Up and Hotel Apache.

Whiskey Licker Up will be the first of its kind in Las Vegas  ̶  a full-service saloon with a huge rotating bar as its centerpiece. The 6500-square-foot facility will be located directly above the original Whiskey Licker Bar on the southwest corner of the property, overlooking the First Street Stage. Whiskey Licker Up will offer drinks, dining, dancing, live entertainment, and even a mechanical bull, all with incredible views of the most exciting street in the world. Guests will enjoy an amazing sensory experience that includes live acts from Fremont Street and in-house entertainment in a setting located within feet of the Slotzilla Zoom Line and all under the bright lights of the Fremont Street Experience. Construction is expected to be completed by this summer.

Hotel Apache at Binion’s Gambling Hall is a concept likewise inspired by the rich history of the property, providing an experience that will take you back in time. Hotel Apache will be a unique and boutique hotel featuring 81 rooms with vintage-style furnishings reminiscent of the original Hotel Apache that opened in 1932. The property also has a long history of eerie occurrences that will appeal to many. As General Manager Tim Lager says, “You can’t buy our history. But you can enjoy it with us. And if some of that history seems to come alive, it’s only your imagination. Or is it?” Construction of the rooms is also expected to be completed by this summer.

About Binion’s Gambling Hall

Binion’s Gambling Hall has been making Las Vegas history since 1951 when Texas gambler, Benny Binion, bought the property at 128 Fremont Street. Benny was passionate about giving players excitement, good odds and friendly service, or as he would say – Good Food. Good Whiskey. Good Gamble.

When Benny introduced the Horseshoe Club to the “Glitter Gulch” of downtown Las Vegas, a legacy was born. The Horseshoe Club became the first real gambling hall and saloon in Las Vegas and was soon recognized as the place to go for high roller action and generous comps for all players. While the nostalgic personality of the Horseshoe Club remained the same throughout the years, the property grew in both size and scope when in 1960, Benny purchased the neighboring Boulder Club. In 1988, Benny’s sons purchased The Mint Hotel to double the size of the property that today, covers an entire block of Fremont Street as Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel.

Benny Binion was a true innovator who understood the wants and needs of downtown Las Vegas visitors: offering a better deal for their money and an experience like no other. Benny pioneered Las Vegas-style customer service installing carpet and air conditioning for the comfort of his players at a time when neither was standard. In addition, he was the first casino owner to provide transportation for his players to and from the airport. In 1970, what began as an intimate poker game with 10 of Benny’s friends evolved into the World Series of Poker that today, is one of the largest and most prestigious poker tournaments in the world. Although the World Series of Poker no longer occurs at the property, Binion’s is still recognized among poker enthusiasts as the place that made poker famous. Las Vegas visitors and locals alike know Binion’s Hall of Fame Poker Room is the ultimate test of their playing skills.

Though downtown Las Vegas has evolved since the days of Benny Binion, Benny’s enthusiasm still remains at the historic casino and has been picked up by the current owner, TLC Casino Enterprises, that purchased the property in March 2008. In keeping with the storied tradition of the Binion’s legacy, the beloved $1 Million Dollar Display is back in a pyramid design of acrylic boxes set up on a poker table.
