Last year, news broke that a brand-new high-speed train would soon be able to transport fun-seekers from L.A. to Las Vegas at a blazing 180 mph, all for a projected cost of $60 per ticket. With this exciting announcement, visitors could look forward to an easy ride to their favorite sports books, watch all the Cirque du Soleil shows, and even have a few drinks without worrying about driving.

About the Brightline West Las Vegas Station

To increase the hype, new renderings of the Brightline West Las Vegas Station have been released, showcasing a bright, modern two-story facility. It features a bank of windows over the front entrance letting plenty of natural light through.

The first floor of the station will house a self-ticketing area, a baggage claim area, a departure lobby, office space, and retail offerings. On the second floor, passengers can enjoy additional retail and office space, a waiting area, and security.

The station will include a seven-story parking garage and also take advantage of Las Vegas’s warm weather by incorporating outdoor dining spaces and bars.

The station will be located on Las Vegas Boulevard, between Blue Diamond and Warm Springs roads. See the map below. One side of the lot borders the Las Vegas Freeway (Interstate 15), while the other side is home to the Las Vegas South Premium Outlets and a few business hotels. Currently, the site is about a 15-minute drive from The Las Vegas Strip.

Brightline, the company behind the rail line, expects to capture 22% of people who would otherwise drive or fly between Vegas and L.A.

Since the line will run down the center of the I-15 freeway, no additional land is required. However, wildlife advocates are petitioning for the installation of three wildlife ramps, particularly through stretches of the Mohave Desert where several protected species, such as the endangered desert tortoise, reside.

Adjacent to the Brightline West Las Vegas Station, a resort, and NBA-ready 20,000-seat sports arena has been proposed by Oak View Group.

Additionally, there were rumors that a ballpark for the Oakland A’s might also be located nearby. Recent news has shown that the A’s are planning their ballpark closer to the Las Vegas Strip, near the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Dean Martin Dr. It will be just West of the I-15 freeway, across from T-Mobile Arena. T-Mobile Arena is where the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights play hockey.

The Vegas-LA rail line is scheduled to be operational by 2027, giving travelers plenty of time to perfect their gaming skills and to decide which professional sports team they want to come to see.

Brightline is experiencing a wave of success, with its new high-speed train connecting Orlando to Miami and the addition of Aventura and Boca Raton as stations on that Florida line. Plus, there’s the planned connector between Raleigh, NC, and Richmond, VA.
